Cong demands action in Dalit woman's custodial death case

Jaipur, June 14 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Yogendra Makwana today charged the ruling BJP government here with increasing atrocities on Dalits and demanded the suspension of official concerned in the case of custodial death of a Dalit woman in Chomu.

Dr Makwana, while addressing the media here today said, ''the Dalit woman died due to police torture in custody while the suicide report had the dead woman's thumb impression, which was done in presence of Sub Divisional Magistrate.'' The police did not file the report lodged by the woman's son Amit, he added.

Dr Makwana, who is also the president of the All India Congress's Scheduled Caste department, said the police did not take any action in the case of Meghwal community who were facing social ostracisation in Udaipur's Amrapura village.

He demanded a case be registered against the principal of a school in Tilora village, who is alleged to have tortured five students who were Scheduled Caste.
