China's Wenzhou Medical College beckons Indian students
Bangalore, June 14 (UNI) China-based Wenzhou Medical College (WMC) today appointed Environs, a Bangalore-based education consultant, as its partner in Karnataka.
Environs, appointed through International Educational consultants (IEC), Coimbatore, would provide counselling and information and screening for students interested in doing MBBS in WMC.
''WMC is a government run institution and recognised by World Health Organisation (WHO) and Medical Council of India (MCI) to write the screening test, as per the regulations of MCI,'' an Environs release here today quoted IEC Chief Executive Officer (India and South East Asia operations) Saju Bhaskar, as saying.
The MCI opened up the Chinese Universities for Indian students in 2003.
He said the curriculum offered by WMC was similar to that of the one offered in Indian Medical Colleges. WMC was the only college in China, which had an opthamological centre, which was of national importance for the Chinese government.
Environs Education Consultant Dr Shubhakar said the total cost for a 5.5 year MBBS course was Rs 12 lakh, less than 50 per cent of the cost incurred in India. WMC now had over 12,000 undergraduates and nearly 700 PG students, he added.
