Bus services hit due to naxal bandh

Balaghat, MP, June 14(UNI) Bus services to and from Balaghat in south eastern Madhya Pradesh remained disrupted in response to the CPI(Maoist) call for 'Chakkajam' for two days from today to protest police atrocities.

About 80 buses being operated from Balaghat on different routes did not return since last night. Bus services remained affected on routes from Balaghat to Durg, Raipur, Mandla, Paraswada, Baihar, Ukwa and Saltekri.

Inspector General of Police C V Muniraju said additional police force had been deployed in the district and a strict vigil was being maintained, particularly on the borders with other districts.

Police sources said this was the first time that much impact was felt on the naxalites' call.

Besides Balaghat, naxalites are also active in Mandla, Dindori and Sidhi districts.
