Bomb threat at temple turns to be hoax

Coimbatore, Jun 14 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Echari Ganesha Temple on the outskirts of the city today following a bomb threat.

Police said the temple executive officer received a parcel from Pollachi this morning. A letter with it warned if the parcel was opened, it would burst.

He immediately informed the police. The bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were rushed to the spot.

The parcel was removed to a secluded place where it was opened. It contained tubelight starters and a few pieces of wire.

Not leaving anything to chance, the police made a thorough search of the temple premies and darshan was allowed only after two hours.
