BJP condemned ULFA threat to Journalists

Guwahati, Jun 14 (UNI) The Assom BJP today strongly condemned the reported threat made by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to a few eminent journalists of the state.

In a release here today Party's Media Cell convenor S Bhattacharya said in a democratic society all citizens have their right to express their free and independent views and this right should not be allowed to be muzzled with threats of guns.

As the sentinel of the fourth column of democracy, journalists have a very important role to play in preserving and strengthening these basic fundamental rights and privileges, he said.

" I strongly oppose and condemn the reported threat to the journalists and express my support and solidarity with them," Mr Bhattacharya said.
