Bar council suspended Advocate for failure in providing services

Ahmedabad, June 14 (UNI) Bar Council of Gujarat has suspended a Vadadora-based Advocate Khemchand R Griglani for six months for his failure to provide services to its client, after taking service charges.

A notification of the Council said that the Advocate ''has been suspended from practice for a period of six months under section 35 (3) (C) of the Advocate Act, 1961''.

According to officials Mr Griglani has taken a fee of Rs 5,415 from Mrs Harsidabai G Naikodi in 1993 and never provided his services nor returned the documents.

The disciplinary committee has directed Mr Griglani to refund the fee amount with 12 percent interest for the period from 1993 till date and also return the documents to Mrs Naikodi.

The bar has further directed the advocate to pay the cost of Rs 2,000 to Advocates welfare fund of the Bar council of India and to return the ''sanad'' to the Bar council of Gujarat.
