ASSOCHAM delegation to woo US investors

New Delhi, June 14: In a bid to woo US FDIs in various sectors like oil, gas, power, telecom and civil aviation, ASSOCHAM President Anil K Agarwal will take a 30-member business delegation to the US tommorow.

Minister of State for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Akhilesh Prasad Singh will represent India in Chicago where the delegation will hold several round of meetings with the US corporate leaders, investors, experts in international trade and legal advisors and will appraise the prospective investors of increasing potential of Indian food processing industry.

Besides, ASSOCHAM will also hold meetings at Washington and Texas.

The other areas in which FDIs will be wooed from the US comprise insurance, banking, infrastructure such as roads and ports, nano and biotechnology, real estate, retail and shopping malls, SEZ in India, agro and food processing, IT and BPO, engineering and legal firms, specialising in investment projects.

In Washington, however, the delegation will have an intensive interaction with the US government officials, political leaders, senior representatives of the US Chamber with those of ASSOCHAM members and US-India Business Council.

The Washington interaction are being organised by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC).

It is for the second time that the ASSOCHAM business delegation will visit the US to ensure that the large amount of FDIs flock in India in view of the growing interest of the US business leaders for the Indian investment climate which is absolutely conducive and congenial for overseas businesses, particularly that of the US.

Civil aviation, insurance and banking as also food processing are sectors which show promises for foreign investors, particularly those of US as they wish to park their surpluses in India in view of the size of businesses that will appear in these sectors.
