Armyman poisons wife, 4 children

Lucknow, June 14 (UNI) An armyman allegedly poisoned his wife and four children before consuming the same in the Babina area of Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh.

His wife Sunita (32) and three children -- Manisha (12), Priti (9) and Abhishek (5) -- succumbed this morning, police said here.

The culprit, Nayak Rajesh, and his daughter Kanchan (7) were, however, battling for life in hospital.

Police claimed Rajesh had laced sweets with poison last night, before the family consumed it.

The reason behind the crime was yet to be ascertained.

Investigations are on.
