AITUC office bearers assaulted in Sandur

Bellary, June 14 (UNI) The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) drew the attention of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to the alleged attack on some of its members at Sandur town in this district today and demanded action against the culprits.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, a copy of which was released to the press, AITUC State Committee General Secretary H V Anantha Subba Rao said the workers from three mines owned by MLA Anil Lad were waiting to meet the management when some unidentified miscreants attacked them.

''We suspect the hands of the management in this incident and urge the government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the entire episode to bring the culprits to the book,'' the letter said.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Sandur town as the AITUC activists staged a dharna in front of the police station demanding action against the culprits.
