12 Middle, 8 High schools upgraded in Rajouri
Rajouri, June 14 : In a bid to increase the literacy rate in this border district, as many as eight High and 12 Middle schools have been upgraded to Higher Secondary and High schools respectively during the current year, raising the number of such schools to 40.
According to official sources, Rs 22.69 crore including Rs 4.29 crore as capital component was earmarked for the education sector which is the highest allocation of all the sectors. Out of the allocation Rs 85.50 lakh would be utilised for providing infrastructure by constructing addition classrooms across the district, sources added.
Around 38,000 textbooks would be provided to the students while merit scholarship will be made available for 8,000 students during the period in the district, sources said. In addition, 60,000 students belonging to the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities would be provided scholarships worth Rs one crore to increase the literacy rate, sources added.
