Switzerland go for attack against France
STUTTGART, June 13 (Reuters) Switzerland coach Koebi Kuhn has named an unexpectedly attacking lineup for their Group G opener against France today.
Kuhn was widely expected to go for a conservative 4-5-1 formation but has instead stuck with Switzerland's traditional 4-4-2, bringing in striker Marco Streller alongside top scorer Alex Frei.
France coach Raymond Domenech has taken the opposite approach, naming Thierry Henry as a lone striker despite using two forwards for their last three friendly matches.
Confirming the lineup he first named yesterday, Domenech is giving a first international start to attacking midfielder Franck Ribery, who replaces an unfit Florent Malouda.
