Stranded pilgrims at Amarnath cave rescued, yatra could resume

Srinagar, June 13 (UNI) All the pilgrims stranded in the Amarnath cave periphery, which witnessed heavy snowfall, have been rescued, an official spokesman said.

He said with slight improvement in weather, the possibility of resumption of pilgrimage, suspended on June 11 due to heavy snowfall and rains, has increased.

The yatra will be resumed via Baltal but the final decision will be taken only after reviewing the weather conditions tomorrow morning, he said.

Out of 250 pilgrims in the cave periphery, 100 were safely brought down to Baltal in the morning while the others were returned in the afternoon in helicopters.
