Hyderabad, June 13 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Election Commission (EC) has issued orders for deletion of names of persons against whom non-bailable warrants remained unexecuted for more than six months, from the voters list.

The Commission took the decision to maintain the purity of elections and prevent proclaimed offenders/absconders from contesting the two-phase elections to Panchayat Raj Institutions slated for June 28 and July 2, or vote in them, EC Secretary G N Rao told reporters here today.

Superintendents of Police should furnish the information to the District Collectors, who should ensure the names are deleted from the electoral rolls and submit the list to the Commission, he added.

The issue of fresh ration cards could go on with exchange of eligibile old cards only in Hyderabad District, where the elections were not being conducted, he clarified.

Zilla Parishad chairmen could sit in these chambers during the poll period but should not summon Zilla Parishad officials for any review or misuse any facilities, he added.

The Commission had no objection to holding General Body, Standing Committee and Ward Committee meetings in the Muncipal Corporation of Hyderabad as also to transfer of MCH employees not involved in holding the polls, he added.
