Samsung to expand and make aggressive marketting
Ahmedabad, Jun 13 (UNI) The Samsung India Electronics (SIE), one of the leading electronics consumer goods producers in India, is all poised to take frontal position in the consumber goods market in the country with its aggressive marketting and expansion initiatives, says its Dy Managing Director Mr Ravinder Zutshi here today.
Mr Zutshi said, the company is planning to invest another 20 million US $ in the next few months for expanding its product ranges and volumes in eletronics as well as consumber goods. So far, the SIE has invested 150 million US $ in the India.
Talking to mediapersons, after inaugurating an exclusive Samsung Brand Shop 'Samsung Digital Home' at posh Satellite area in the city here, Mr Zutshi said, as per Company's new agressive strategy for marketting and selling the outlets of our products would be increased by 30 per cent in the India in current year.
He said, the company's turn over for last year (Jan-Dec, 2005) was Rs 6,300-crore and it is likely to grow further high this year.
When asked, he said, the Company's major sell of about 35 per cent is in metros. While sell ratio between urban and rural market in India is about 80:20, but it will be soon 70:30 as rural India is also making in-roads in eletronics goods.
In reply to another question, he said, the company's major thrust is now on its latest liquid crystal display (LCD), Plasma, digital light processing (DLP) televisions, which has price range from Rs 35,000/- to Rs 300,000.
These latest technology television models have market of about 200,000 sets per annum in India, of which Samsung is poised grab over 100,000 sets as per the selling trends between January-May, 2006 observed by the Company, Mr Zutshi added.
Because of availability of cheaper skilled labours in India, the company is managing to export to neighbouring Asian countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and others.
