New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) today expressed its disappointment on the failure of the Central and Delhi and Punjab governments to declare a public holiday on the occasion of 400th martyrdom anniversary of the 5th Sikh guru, Arjan Dev.

''We are disappointed that dispite our requests, a public holiday was not declared and even a commemorative stamp was not taken out in memory of the Guru who stood for unity, love and harmony, and even laid down his life for the society,'' Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) General Secretary O S Thapar, President of the party's Delhi unit A S Hit and Secretary General K S Bhogal, who was also a member of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee, Amritsar, told reporters.

They also criticised the Centre for not being able to persuade the Pakistan government to grant more than 160 visas for devotees to go to Nankana Sahib on the occasion.

Mr Thapar informed that a Nagar Kirtan would be taken out tomorrow from the capital's Gurudwara Rakab Ganj to Taran Taran near Amritsar.

Thousands of devotees, including former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Delhi BJP MP V K Malhotra, would take part in the procession from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

Thereafter, people would board buses and other forms of transport for their journey that would end on June 16 at Taran Tarna, he said.

Lakhs of people would take part in the congregation at Taran Taran.

The three leaders also criticised Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) chief P S Sarna for not responding to the call of the Akal Takht and participating in the Nagar Kirtan.

They dismissed statements of some rival factions terming tomorrow's religious procession as a political gimmick.

''Though the whole event is sponsored by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), we invite everybody to join in,'' they said and added that all monies collected during the journey of the Nagar Kirtan would be turned over to either Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee or Delhi Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee.
