Pilgrim pushed by temple volunteers, suffers fracture

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Jun 13 (UNI) A woman pilgrim was admitted to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD)-run BIRRD Hospital at Tirupati for injuries she suffered after being allegedly pushed by the Srivari Seva volunteers at the temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara here last night.

K Vaitheswari(45) of Salem in Tamil Nadu was offering worship along with her family when she fell down suddenly at the sanctum sanctorum after being pushed by the volunteers. She suffered a fracture in her left foot joint.

TTD officials at the main temple immediately rushed her to the Balaji Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for Disabled (BIRRD).

Talking to the media at the hospital, Vaitheswari said the TTD was providing all treatment and stressed the need for training volunteers at the main temple in handling pilgrims.
