Guwahati, June 13 (UNI) The ULFA appointed Peoples Consultative Group (PCG) is dismayed over spiralling violence in Asom, that too ahead of peace talks with the Centre.

'What can we do. We are only middlemen. The PCG is created for soft landing by the ULFA. But what can we do more!'' said PCG member Mukul Mahanta, a former engineer and ULFA sympathizer.

The PCG, which is comprised mostly of hardcore ULFA supporters, is not forthcoming to express its frustration openly. But moderate people like Mukul Mahanta have expressed his complete displeasure along with the peace initiator Mrs Mamoni Roysom Goswami.

Mr Mahanta said ''If somebody thinks that peace and solution can be brought through bloodshed then he/she is fool''. Violence would not bring anything, he observed.

ULFA, fearing public wrath, has denied responsibilities in all these incidents where innocent people were killed. But the outfit took responsibility in other incidents.

Noted writer Dr Indira Goswami said, ''I do not know what is happening. I lose faith sometime. I do not know whom should I trust.

But I know that there can not be violence'' she said.

''ULFA wants to use pressure tactics and we also know how to use pressure but we are restraining ourselves'' said Union Home Secretary V K Duggal.

Peace talks between the PCG and the Centre is scheduled on June 22 in New Delhi.
