Huge cache of ammunition recovered in Asom

Diphu, June 13 (UNI) A Huge quantity of ammunition was recovered by Bokajan police following a fierce encounter yesterday with armed militants near Deithor under Bokajan Police station, police said today.

A joint patrolling party, of CRPF from 121 Battalion and Asom police was ambushed by armed ultras, police said.

The security forces retaliated and a fierce encounter ensured.

However, the militants managed to escape.

No casualty was reported from either side.

After the encounter police recovered a 40 MM morter launcher, seven Chinese-made grenadesand several rounds of AK-47 and machine gun bullets.

Later, police arrested two persons- Longki Bey and Dilip Teron- in this connection.
