Kolkata, Jun 13 (UNI) A division bench of Calcutta High Court today stayed a single bench order appointing administrator to run the Rs 5000 crore M P Birla empire.

Justice P C Ghosh and Mr T K Dutta passed an order on an appeal of Auditor R S Lodha seeking stay on the order passed by Justice Kalyanjyoti Sengupta on May 19.

The bench held the extension of the stay would continue till the completion of the appeal.

Justice Senguopta passed an order after Birla family members moved the court opposing Mr Lodha's control over M P Birla empire and praying appointment of an administrator to run the business.

The legal battle between the Birlas and Mr Lodha began after the latter disclosed one and half years ago that he had been bequeathed the M P Birla empire by a Will of 1991.

The Birlas opposed the Will, saying it lacked veracity and challenged it before the court.

The case is yet to be settled.
