Haryana to re-employ retrenched employees

Chandigarh, June 13 (UNI) In a significant decision, the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in Haryana today approved a scheme for re-employment of those employees of the state who were retrenched by the previous Chautala government.

The scheme was cleared in a meeting of the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, here.

Regular employees of Boards, Corporations and Cooperative Federations and other public undertakings who were retrenched due to closure or restructuring of these organisations between March 1, 2000 to March 1, 2005 would be considered for ''adjustment'', an official spokesman said today.

However, only those employees would be considered for adjustment who are less than or 55 years of age as on May 18, 2006.

The policy of government is based on the sound principle of Section 25-H of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 which provides that such retrenched employees will have preference over others, he said.

All vacancies of direct recruitment in Group C and Group D posts in Departments, Boards, Corporations, Cooperative Federations, state public sector undertakings, urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions will be kept aside for adjustment from among retrenched employees to be done in six months.

It was decided that the State Public Enterprises and Apex Cooperative Federations, which had been closed would not be reopened. The adjustment of such employees will be treated as a special case in itself to fulfil the commitment of the present Government and in public interest.

The adjustment of retrenched employees would be at the discretion of the government and they would have no legal right in this regard.

All Government Departments, Boards, State Public Sector Undertakings and other government organisations could send a requisition for the number of posts to be filled up from among the quota of retrenched employees to a screening committee to be constituted for the purpose.

This screening committee would devise a scheme with the approval of the Chief Minister on the basis of broad parameters for adjustment of retrenched employees.
