GIEAIA stages hunger strike

Kolkata, Jun 13 (UNI) The General Insurance Employees' All India Association (GIEAIA) today staged hunger strike in front of the National Insurance Company Limited headquarters to oppose outsourcing.

" We are opposing outsourcing, attempt to eliminate permanent jobs, unilateral imposition of transfer, mobility policy, planned merger and closure of existing offices, increasing Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) in insurance, " GIEAIA general secretary Kusal Nag said in a statement.

The union was also demanding restoration of compassionate appointment, restoration of additional casual leave and half day casual leave and declaration of adequate promotional vacancies besides other things, he added.
