Flash flood hits Bihar

Patna, June 13 (UNI) Thousands of villagers were forced to leave their homes to seek shelter in safer under Gaurichak police station of the district places as flash floods innundated several villager.

Reports here said fresh wave of flood in the Dardha, Punpun and Morher rivers inundated large areas under three Panchayats of Gaurichak police station, affecting at least 25,000 people.

Several houses collapsed and property worth lakhs of rupees were damaged since villagers were caught unaware by the flash flood.

No loss of life or cattlehead has so far been reported.

Heavy downpour in the catchment areas of the rivers was stated to be the reason for the floods.

Affected villagers complained that no rescue and relief operation had been launched by the government and the people had to arrange evacuation on their own.
