Dacoit Umrao Bundela shot dead
Gwalior, June 13 (UNI) Dacoit Umrao Bundela, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000 announced by the Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh governments, was shot dead in an encounter in Shivpuri district early today.
On a tip-off about the presence of the gang in the Bhugasi forest in Karera police station area, police raided his hide-out and shot dead the dacoit leader. Other members of the gang managed to escape, Inspector General of Police Sarbajit Singh told reporters here.
Police recovered a gun and ammunition from the spot. Bundela, who killed Police ASI Kedar Sharma in Karera area in 2003, was wanted in over 25 cases of murder and kidnapping, Mr Singh said.
