Couple cheating TN textile firms nabbed in B'lore
Bangalore, June 13 (UNI) The city police have arrested an young man and woman, who had allegedly duped two textile firms in Tamil Nadu by issuing cheques without sufficient balance in the bank and recovered fabrics worth over Rs 38 lakh here.
City Police Commisisoner Ajai Kumar Singh told newspersons here today that Yamini (21) and Vinod Kumar (23) had purchased garments worth Rs 1.5 crore in two firms in Coimbatore last month and paid Rs 42 lakh in cash and the rest through cheque.
With the cheque bouncing, the textile dealers lodged a complaint with Rajagopala Nagar police station against the duo. Investigation revealed that the consignees had given a fictitious address and taken possession of the fabrics, before selling it to another firm in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. Police recovered the fabrics and effected the arrest.
In another incident, the city police have arrested four burglars and recovered jewellery worth over Rs five lakh, stolen from a house in Chandra Layout. The recovered jewellery was presented to the owner at the press conference.
