Chandra Shekhar's party suspends his Pol Secy
New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) The Samajvadi Janata Party (Rashtriya), headed by former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, has suspended its National Executive member H N Sharma from the post of political secretary to the party President as also from the primary membership of the party for anti-party activities.
Party's National Secretary Vipin Garg has, in a letter addressed to Mr Sharma, served a show cause notice to him asking him why he should not be expelled from the party for hurting the party's interest.
"The action against Mr Sharma has been taken in consulation with party President Chandra Shekhar in view of Mr Sharma's press statement in which he spoke without basis of a possible merger of the former Prime Minister's party with the Janata Dal(S), headed by H D Deve Gowda,''Mr Garg said in a press statement issued here today.
In the show cause notice to Mr Sharma, Mr Garg alleged that the news story,"Ailing Chandra Shekhar wants to bequeath assets to nation", had appeared in an English daily at his instance. Neither Mr Chandra Shekhar nor the party's National Executive had thought of any merger of the Samjavadi Janata Party(Rashtriya) nor had any decision been taken in this regard.
"The statement made by you in this connection that Mr Chandra Shekhar wants to merge his party with the Janata Dal (Secular) is totally misleading, untrue and baseless,"the show cause notice said, adding "this has damaged the prestige of the party and constitutes utter violation of the party discipline." "For these anti-party activities, you are suspended with immediate effect from the primary membership of the party and from the post of political secretary to the party President," the show cause notice further said, and sought an explanation from Mr Sharma within seven days showing cause why he should not be expelled from the party.
The news report had stated that ageing and ailing former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar had offered to will his public assets controlled by various trusts to the nation through Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his political party to former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
