Army Chief arrives at Udhampur

Jammu, June 13 (UNI) The Chief of Army staff, Gen J J Singh arrived at Udhampur for a two-day visit to Northern Command headquarters today, a defence spokesman said.

The COAS was accompanied by his wife, Anupama Singh. He was received by Lt Gen Deepak Kapoor, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command and Mrs. Kirti Kapoor, President AWWA , Northern Command.

The COAS was briefed on the prevailing security environment and conduct of counter terrorists operations (CTO) in Jammu and Kashmir, at headquarters Northern Command. He expressed his happiness and praised the way the brave soldiers' were facing challenges in combating terrorism including ensuring security of the people.

The briefing was followed by an interactive session with senior officers.
