AP Govt will release pending dues to VMC: Minister

Vijayawada, Jun 13 (UNI) Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Ranga Rao today said the government will release pending dues to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

Speaking after inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the VMC here last night, Mr Rao said the government was committed to releasing the dues to the municipalities and corporations in the state.

Referring to development of the city, the Minister said industrialists were not interested in setting up units in the city due to higher real estate prices and lack of sufficient land.

The Minister felt if the Vijaywada Urban Development Authority and other government wings took quick measures to complete the proposed flyover at Nainavaram Gate, it would facilitate rapid expansion in northern side of the city giving fillip to industrialisation.

Under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM), the city got Rs 100 crore and more money will be available for the city's development.

Mr Rao asked Local MP L Rajagopal, who was also industrialist, to take interest in the development of the city.
