UP bans revelry firing in marriages
Lucknow, June 12 (UNI) Taking congnisance of casaulties in freak incidents, Uttar Pradesh government has banned revelry firing in marriages and other functions with immediate effect.
Director General of Police (DGP) Bua Singh has issued a circular to the district police chiefs in the state to curb the prevalance of firing in air to celebrate marriages, festivals and other social and religious events.
Police chiefs have been directed to take strict action in this regard.
The government will seize the firearms and cancel the arms licenses in such cases.
According to the circular, action under section 144 can also be taken after consulting the district magistrate.
