Surupsingh Naik released from Thane jail

Thane, June 12 (UNI) Former Maharashtra Minister Surupsingh Naik, who was lodged in Thane central prison to serve one month jail term in Supreme Court contempt case, was released from the jail early today.

The Supreme Court had ordered one month simple imprisonment to Naik for giving licences to six saw mills in 2004 to operate despite a ban during his tenure as Environment Minister.

While serving the jail term, he was admitted to JJ hospital after he complained of uneasiness, profused sweating and palpitation where he remained till last week before being brought to the jail again.

On completion of the jail term, he was released today.
