Sensex loses ground after opening positive
Mumbai, June 12 (UNI) Markets today opened in the green, but soon slipped into red due to pressure on metal scrips at the London Metal Exchange.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) today opened at 9,858.47 as compared to the previous close of 9810.46.
Soon it weakened by dropping to the morning low of 9586.93 and was trading at 9631.57 down 178.89 points at 1100 hrs.
All the sectoral indices were in red. Metals, PSU, Auto, Midcap, Smallcap, and IT were down between one to four per cent.
Amongst the major scrips, Reliance Communications was down 2.6 per cent to Rs 215. Tata Power was down 1.1 per cent to Rs 433.
Index heavyweight Reliance Industries shed 2 per cent to Rs 902.
IT major Infosys shed 0.8 per cent to Rs 2,765, Wipro shed 1.9 per cent to Rs 427, Satyam Computer lost 2 per cent to Rs 609.90 and TCS shed 1.2 per cent to Rs 1,653. Construction major L&T shed 0.3 per cent to Rs 2,017.
