Punjab to stake claim for nuclear power plant
Patiala, Jun 12 (UNI) The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) will stake claim if Haryana or any other neighbouring state would set up a nuclear power plant, PSEB chairman YS Ratra said here today.
Mr Ratra told mediapersons that Punjab Chief Minister had already ruled out setting up of any nuclear power plant in the state as supply of gas and uranium were difficult to meet.
He informed that Dorha Power Plant has already been converted into thermal plant and for this, pre-bid qualifications were invited from about 17 private parties. Intially, the Punjab government had planned to set up gas-based plant at Dorha.
When asked about NTPC's dedicated power plant in Chhattisgarh for Punjab, he said regarding this, the matter was with Prime Minister's office.
