Prohibitory orders clamped in MP town
Badwani, MP, June 12 : Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC were clamped in the district town of Badwani in western Madhya Pradesh following clash between two groups at a place of worship last night.
One person was injured in the clash and four persons arrested so far, police said.
Meanwhile, the district town, population of 50,000, is observing bandh on the call of Hindu activists. Shops and commercial establishments remained closed during the peaceful bandh.
Police personnel had been deployed at all sensitive points, Superintendent of Police Dinesh Chandra Sharma said.
The clash ensued as a person belonging to another community took exception to use of loudspeakers at a place of worship and assaulted few people.
In retaliation, members of another community assaulted a person who was pasting posters of the Football World Cup near a place of worship.
As the agitated people gathered near the police station, senior officers tried to pacify them. In order to disperse the mob, police lobbed teargas shells and used mild force.
The situation was under control, police added.
