Police opens fire to control mob

Raxaul, Bihar, June 12 (UNI) The police had to open fire in air for disbursing an irate mob which had put up a road blockade on National Highway 28 A here today, in protest against the death of a domestic servant of a police officer.

Sub divisional officer of Raxaul Shanker Baitha said here that the people got agitated as they suspected the death was caused by unnatural sex which the servant might have been subjected to by the officer-in-charge of Raxaul police station Kailash Prasad.

Sources said the police officer had already been suspended. He said that another domestic servant of the police officer was in an unconscious stage and he might have undergone the same treatment by the officer.

Mr Baitha said that the police was forced to open 20-25 rounds of fire in air when the mob started pelting stone and continued to indulge in the unruly behaviour despite a baton charge, which was earlier resorted to by the security forces. The mob also damamaged a Bihar State Road Transport Corporation bus and ransacked some shops.

The body of the deceased servant has been sent to a local hospital for post mortem while the another servant was admitted also admitted to a health centre.
