Mediapersons prevented from going to massacre site in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 12 (UNI) Several mediapersons were stopped allegedly by the security forces in Anantnag district of south Kashmir to proceed to a Kulgam village where nine Nepali labourers were massacred by unidentified gunmen today.

Giving details, a photojournalist on the condition of anonymity told UNI that as a Tata Sumo carrying 11 mediapersons reached Badroo village in Kulgam area, they were stopped by the troops to proceed to the scene of the massacre.

He said a driver of a vehicle of CNN-IBN was allegedly manhandled by the troops and asked to go back.

''When we informed the troops about our identity, they refused to allow us to go to the spot,'' he added.

The photojournalist said then all the mediapersons decided to return to Srinagar.
