Maheshwar work after completing formalities: Chouhan
Bhopal, June 12: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said work on the 400 megawatt Maheshwar Hydroelectric Project on the Narmada river would be started after completing all legal formalities.
The construction work, if necessary, would be stopped forthwith, he told reporters here reacting to reports that the Environment and Forest Ministry had directed the state government to suspend the construction work for violating the conditions of environmental clearance.
''The state government was yet to receive the Centre's order, but we have information about the despatch of such an order'', the Chief Minister told reporters at his residence. The Centre's instructions would be followed, he added.
Mr Chouhan said he did not see any political discrimination in suspending the work as he considered all development works above politics.
