Bangalore, Jun 12: Magma Design Automation today announced expansion of its base in the city, besides opening a second development centre in Noida.

Company President Roy E. Jewell, in a release here, said the move was to support the growing base of customers and take advantage of the availability of world class talent in the country.

''An increasing number of IC design and semiconductor companies are locating in Noida,'' he said, adding ''to take advantage of this growth, Magma will open a research and development centre in Noida besides the Bangalore centre, which is the largest one outside our headquarters.'' He said the company was building critical mass now and planned to double its Research and Development and applications engineering team in India over the next 12 to 18 months.

''Magma's long-term strategy in India is to work within the industry and with academia and the government to create a strong semiconductor market,'' the release said, quoting Magma Design Automation Managing Director S Anand Anandkumar.
