Landslide block train with passengers

Guwahati, Jun 12 (UNI) A passenger train got stranded following heavy landslides in the hilly section of North Cachar hills of Asom today.

Army and para military forces had rushed to rescue the passengers.

According to NF Railway spokesman Trikalagga Rabha, the passenger train got stranded at Migrendisha railway station near Mahur as the landslides had been continuing die to incessant downpour.

Landslide has occurred at two areas damaging the railway line.

The NF Railway authorities had announced complete halt of railway operation on the Lumding-Silchar sector. It would take more than three weeks to restore.

The stranded passengers had been rescued and sent through specially arranged vehicle. The train was coming from Haflong to Lumding.

Moreover, the Haflong-Silchar road was blocked at Retzal and Boromulikhpi in both NC Hills and Cachar districts. Mahur-Maibong road communication was also disrupted by landslip at New Leikul village.
