Labourer succumbs to hunger
Mahoba, June 12 (UNI) A labourer, on empty stomach for the last two days due to abject poverty, today allegedly died due to hunger in the district.
However, the district administration termed it as a case of heat stroke.
Sources said the labourer, Rameshwar Prasad, had left his house on a cycle-ricksaw in search of work.
However, he fell down at the city's Parmanand Crossing, about 3 kms from his dwelling. He died on way to district hospital, witnesses said.
The labourer had earned nothing in the last couple of days and had gone hungry since two days, sources claimed.
District Magistrate S B S Rangrao declined to accept that Prasad died due to hunger.
The case is being investigated.
