IREDA expecting disbursements to grow

Kolkata, Jun 12 (UNI) Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) is expecting to disburse around Rs 450-500 crore this year for renewable energy projects in the country, IREDA managing director Debashish Majumdar said today.

IREDA disbursed around Rs 300 crore last year for various energy projects in the country, Majumdar said at the Indian Chamber of Commerce programme here.

Majority chunk of the disbursements were earlier made in southern India.

However, states like Uttaranchal and West Bengal have become proactive to renewable energy projects leading increase in disbursements in these states, he said.

Small hydro projects and green energy projects were areas were the disbursements would be made, Majumdar said.

He said IREDA is imparting training to bankers to make them aware of the prospects of the renewable energy projects so that bank funds could be obtained after proper appraisal.

IREDA trained around 500 bank officials last year and this year the training would be taken forward so that energy projects could be evalued and Bank funds could be obtained.
