Governor calls for mass movement over environment awareness

Shimla, June 12 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje has stressed the need for creating awareness to prevent global climate change and a pro-active approach on part of governments and civil society.

Presiding over the sixth World Congress on Environment on the theme of 'Partnering to Prevent Climate Change' organized by World Environment Foundation at Palampur last evening.

''We should give a wake up call to the world's business, Government and civil society and urge them to take a proactive action to prevent climate change,'' he said.

He said that our environmental problems such as global warming stem from the fact that we do not have any monetary value associated with natural capital.

The Governor further said that with the increasing rate of depletion of our natural resources, the industry has a duty to ensure that its processes and services are environmentally sustainable and eco efficient.
