Czechs without Baros against United States

GELSENKIRCHEN, June 12 (Reuters) Czech Republic will be without injured striker Milan Baros against United States in their first World Cup Group E game today.

Baros missed out after hurting his foot in a friendly.

Coach Karel Brueckner opted to play Jan Koller as a lone striker, with Jaroslav Plasil as a fifth midfielder.

US coach Bruce Arena also went for a single striker, with Brian McBride up front and Landon Donovan in midfield.

DaMarcus Beasley starts on the right of midfield, even though his natural position is left. Bobby Convey plays on the other flank.
