Budget enhanced from Rs 190 cr to Rs 248 cr

Hyderabad, June 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance and Health Minister K Rosaiah today said the budget for Andrha Pradesh Vaidya Vidhan Parishand (APVVP) had been enhanced to Rs 248 crore from Rs 190 crore for enabling major developments in health sector.

Speaking to reporters here today, he said staff strength has been sanctioned as per norms for 42 upgraded hospitals and, 52 paediatrics and civil assistant surgeon were recruited.

Mr Rosaiah said, Eluru District Hospital had been upgraded to super speciality hospital and Regional Cancer Centre status granted to Nellore District Hospital.

With a view to coordinate the services of various medical disciplines, efforts are on to shift the AYUSH dispensaries (557-Ayurveda, 286-Homeopathy, 193-Unani), to the nearest Primary Health Centres, he said.

Along with the Centre's aid of Rs 25,000 for each dispensary, the budget would earmark Rs 15,000 against Rs 10,000 in the previous years.
