New Delhi, June 12 (UNI) The Congress today advised the Bharatiya Janata Party to emulate at least partially the efforts of the Congress-ruled states to bring down the price of petrol giving up its attitude of agitation.

"The BJP, which talks big, has not set an example in doing what the Congress-ruled states have done to bring down the price of petrol and other petroleum products," Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said while briefing newsmen here.

The BJP should give up its language of opposition and come to the surface and emulate at least partially the Congress-ruled states, he said.

Mr Singhvi wondered how the BJP was not following the advice of the RSS in this connection when it is used to heeding its directives in all other respects. "This reflects double standards of the BJP," he said, and charged that the BJP was "playing a politics of expediency." "The BJP should give up its policy of hypocrisy,or else it will continue to be exposed," Mr Singhvi said.

Agreeing with the fact that different states have different tax structure, he said every state regardless of political complexion should devise its own way to bring down the price of petrol in public interest. "The Congress is only showing a path and suggesting a solution." If some states have taken a lead, other states should considering doing the same, Mr Singhvi said, adding the Congress will work to generate a consensus on the issue. The burden on the people due to the price hike should be the least.
