Villagers take ill after drinking water
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 11 (UNI) In a suspected case of water contamination, over 30 residents of Chettimangalam village today took ill after consuming drinking water supplied from the over head water tank, here.
Official sources said, the residents developed vomiting, loose motions and stomach pain after drinking the water. The affected people were sent to the government hospital at Sirungambur.
District Collector Ashish Vachchani and state Forestry Minister Selvaraj rushed to the hospital and supervised the treatment.
A special medical team is available to treat the cases.
Water samples had been taken for clinical analysis, the sources said.
