UPA must issue 'White Paper' on fuel prices
Ahmedabad, June 11: Gujarat Minister of State for Energy Saurabh Dalal has demanded that the Union Government should publish a 'White Paper' on the fossil fuel prices.
Reacting to the two Congress leaders' demand for removal of VAT with a view to ease burden on the consumers, Mr Dalal has asked Union Minister of State for Petroleum Dinsha Patel and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Arjun Modhvadia to correct their economics about transportation first before asking for scrapping Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel in the state.
He said the two should make inquiry about the cost of imported crude, difference between delivery and exit rates at the refineries, transporting the same from Kandla to refineries at Baroda, Mathura and other places and distributing them to different consumption centres all over the country.
The Minister said during the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre the petroleum prices and inflation rate were not as steep as they are after the Congress-led UPA Government assumed power two years ago, he added.
