Uma supporter arrested due to political rivalry: Patel
Gwalior, June 10 (UNI) Bharatiya Janashakti (BJ) leader Prahlad Patel today alleged that political rivalry inspired party leader Preetam Singh Lodhi's arrest.
Talking to mediapersons, Mr Patel demanded action against policemen responsible for the arrest, which was allegedly made on the instructin of a local minister and the state government's head.
He said efforts to create trouble for former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti's supporters were continuing and Mangal Singh Yadav was arrested similarly in Khandwa.
''The state government has taken the step in view of the increasing influence of the Bharatiya Janashakti party and the success of its membership campaign,'' he claimed.
The BJ leader felt that an attempt could be made to hamper Ms Bharti's 'Bharat Bachao Yatra' in the state.
He said he would submit a memorandum to the Inspector General of Police, Bhopal zone, to demand strict action against the guilty police officials.
''If no action is taken and if required, outline would be prepared for agitation,'' Mr Patel said.
He added that the BJ would announce its party unit by July 7, and office bearers would be appointed.
