Scribe injured in assault dies
Nagpur, June 11 (UNI) A 30-year-old correspondent of a Marathi daily 'Tarun Bharat' here died after he was attacked by four unidentified people at Wakeshwar turning point near Dongrgaon on Wardha road.
Police today said Arun Narayan Dekate, who was working as a rural correspondent at Takalghat village for the daily, was attacked with stones on Thursday night by four men when he was on his way back home, alongwith his friend, on a motor-cycle.
He was admitted to hospital with severe injuries and died yesterday.
Dekate, in a report recently, had exposed a gambling racket in and around Takalghat, where he was staying.
He had also given a tip-off to Bori police about 'Satta' kingpin Dhampal Bhagat resulting in the arrest of his men involved in gambling.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits, but no arrests have been made so far.
