SC to hear Da Vinci Code ban plea tomorrow
New Delhi, Jun 11 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear tomorrow two PILs seeking directions to ban the screening of the film 'The Da Vinci Code' in the country and also withdraw from circulation the novel on which the controversial movie is based.
The petitioners, All India Christians Welfare Association and one Mathews, have prayed for a ban on the screening of the movie till the final disposal of their writ petitions.
According to the petitioners, the movie is blasphemous as Jesus Christ has been described as a man who authored the Bible. The film also claims that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene.
The movie has already been banned in several states such as Tamil Nadu, Goa and Kerala.
The petitioners have sought a ban on the movie as well as the novel on the ground that they assaulted the faith of millions of Christians in the country.
