Model status for eight railway stations in Bihar

Patna, June 11 (UNI) The Railway have approved the plan to accord model status to eight more stations of Danapur division of East Central Railway(ECR) in addition to Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal.

The stations to be given model status are Danapur, Buxar, Ara, Mokama, Barh, Nalanda, Nawada and Sheikhpura.

According to railway sources, arrangements for pure drinking water and proper lights had already been made at the said stations.

Computerised railway facilities had been provided at some of these stations to cater the needs of the passengers, the sources added.

An official of the Danapur division said passengers' amenities would be upgraded at all big and small stations. The amenities like waiting halls, drinking water facilities, sheds on platforms, sitting benches and circulating area outside these stations would be provided soon, the official added.

The decision had been taken to build washable apron on the railway tracks at these stations with a view to maintaing proper hygienic condition.

Danapur station is being developed not only as a model station but it was being developed as the terminal station, sources said.
