Mettur to release water tommorrow

Tiruchirapalli, Jun 11 (UNI) Water from the Mettur dam, the level of which is 115 ft presently, will be released for delta irrigation tomorrow at 1800 hrs.

Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister Veerapandi Arumugam will officially release the water.

Official sources said, it was after many years that the level had reached 115 ft. The water level remained close to 110ft continously for 313 days.

Instead of 205tmcs, under the interim order of the Cauvery tribunal, the dam had received 401tmcs last year.
